This. A.Net put the nail in the coffin a long time ago. The HoM never has and never will affect PvP. Pretty dumb and pointless thread. No one who plays PvP cares that PvErs only have to get 1 PvE title. In fact I'm pretty sure they are glad, because now they don't have to deal with a bunch of people whining about not being able to get champ points because top guilds won't let them play with them, unless they are going to pay a crap ton of money to farm ladder with boring gimmicks.

Precisely. PvE rewards for PvE players doing PvE things.

Anet is trying to hit the majority of GW's players, which means aiming at PvE. I would absolutely love it if GW1 were to get a developer that actually gave a rat's ass about PvP and tried to update skills and improve the game, but that's not going to happen.
Just because we haven't yet heard much about PvP in Guild Wars 2 should not lead you to discount it. I am entirely confident that it will be even better, without so many of the fundamental flaws of Guild Wars.

One example is the length of time it takes to update skills. In Guild Wars it's a lot of work, and an incredibly time consuming process to put the changes on the live server. This, from what I hear, has been made vastly easier for Guild Wars 2.

We've also heard them talk about e-sports, competitive play, and generally making the PvP more suitable for serious competition. How any of that translates to Guild Wars 2 being less of a PvP game is beyond me.

Most people are using zaishen 3 as there 'PvP' title anyway.

The good thing about the HoM calculator is I finally realized all the grind is pointless and I should just play for fun (i.e. pvp and co-op pve).

The HoM rewards really aren't worth anything. They are not tradeable, hardcore players weren't rewarded because the HoM has a set cap (anyone with LDOA, grandmaster treasure, elite minis, wisdom, all the weapon sets, all the armors basically wasted a boatload of time for nothing), the rewards are not really that appealing to me and after 1 month everyone will be sporting new high-end stuff from gw2.

The only thing I'm worried about is PvP in GW2 sucking the big one. The skills all look like they were made to rape monsters, but not players. Guild wars PvP, although retarded and imbalanced at times, is completely unique, and easily the best 'RPG' style PvP by 1000s of miles.

PvP Players hardly got robbed anyway. I have 4 maxed titles yet i've still got 41/50 and i haven't pve'd properly in 2 years.

What were you expecting?

You needed a calculator to figure out grind is pointless and that games should be played for fun?

Okie.

Lol , well i'm sorry but last updates especially in pvp looked like they had no time to invest in it and that they didn't even play it . I can think of henchman contest , Hb/TA delete and some recent updates in codex arenas. Was their any logic in those ???
So , if they never ever cared of pvp , they should just had let it be as it was , 6v6 formats , 1 format whenyou're alone , etc ... . Making all areas even harder to play ( i mean hard to form and find team ) was pro solution for sure

YOu got it wrong: the players have steered Anet away from PvP to PvE. Anet just found that their audience didn't want PvP as much and went for PvE.

Umm... you do know that you only NEED one PvP title to max out the HoM Calulator?

Have you realized that if you have MORE than one PvP title they do count towards the overall points as well?

Or maybe they're just giving players what they want. Of course, the majority of them, I mean.

People had been steering away from PvP LONG before anything Anet did...for a specific reason which I won't discuss here.

Sort of...

by way of the HoM, ANET creates incentive for you to spend your available gaming time in PvE & simultaneously creates dis-incentive for you to spend your available gaming time PvP.

Ask yourself these questions:
Do you play GW?
Do you plan to purchase GW2?
Do you want GW "max rewards" in GW2?
If you answered yes to these questions, then STOP playing PvP & focus your available game time on PvE

ANET created this structure, not the player base. As gamers, we can only participate in the structure (without violating EULA) and provide feedback to those that create the structure. It's entirely likely that ANET structured it this way because of thier "market research". However, ANET could still create incentive to STEER players into PvP. They simply choose not to.

And when A-net offers cash/free crap for a PVP competition which they will do for GW2after it launches. The PVE comunuty will rage. Minor thing thing if you ask me. Can you even access the HOM from a pvp Character? I think you need to be a PVE character to do it.

ok ive not been near pvp for ages but i do recall when i had done pvp quite a lot of players were using PVE chrs because they wanted obby armor to look gd - also some of these players also used to show their pve titles.Considering this was before anet hanged things like account based titles and PVP armor rewards , now a lot of these players still exist and im sure as hell most have either maxed or high ranked some of the PVP titles already.
Codex is crap ( public views ) , lux/kurz can be done without even having to walk into ab , which leaves only a few pvp titles.
Point im making is apart from who gives a crap - quite a few pvp titles will be already got.And if they did the ops daft idea of giving gold for kills in pvp - many will then argue that they may as well play pve

So, wait...we haven't heard much about PvP in GW2 which (in your opinion) means that I shouldn't discount it, yet you're allowed to claim that it will be better on the same bases?

How so? Like you said, we've heard little-to-nothing about it, so that would logically guide someone to reach the conclusion that it's not a primary focus of the game.

The formats they've described alone are not well-built for competitive play in an MMO, although I'd love to be proven wrong.

It would have been nice if the PvP title provided some incentive for completionists to actually PvP a little.

Since EoTN is PVE only and brings along HoM i am not surprised that to fulfill the HoM rewards you would even need PvP titles, they do sure help, but not important at all.

Assuming they had to make a choice between the PvE and PvP player base. Wich is most likely false. Making it into a shitty business standpoint wich makes no sense in seperating PvE and PvP for further customer relation issiues crap.

OT: HoM is PvE and.... well thats it it's PvE thats there decision and nothing you can do about it if you want something else then make your own freaking game were you can make up the rules. (or you make a PvE char and get PvE titles if you want HoM rewards. I had to do HA aswell to get Bambi even if I hate HA and think it's the one of the worst aspects of the game. but I wanted a emote)

This is an obvious problem, did you see the capital letters?!

PvP is it's own reward, plus if everyone comes in trying to get titles you would probably bitch about all the "n00bs"
